Singer 81 Posted May 13, 2013 Help! I am 7 days post op. I have been drinking Boost shakes with added Protein, and am getting sooooo tired of them. I have 8 more days of this (until my follow up appt next Tuesday). I am finding I can only "eat" about 5 oz of anything at a meal. Dietitian says I can have FF pudding, and fat free, or heart healthy strained Soup. I bought a couple Soups yesterday, and not happy with my choices. Any suggestions for soup? AND, how do I add protein if I am using soup? Unjury says it has to be warm, not hot liquid...????

mrsto 2,925 Posted May 13, 2013 When I got totally sick of strained Soup and sweet Protein drinks, I blended unflavored Protein into V8 juice. LOVED that. I use nectar unflavored Protein powder. I also went to the Vitamin Shoppe (you can pick up at any health food store), and picked up some clear fruit flavored protein drinks; similar to what Jackie mentions above. I didn't care much for those, but found that when I was going crazy out of my mind SICK of everything, they added another source of variety. 1 Singer reacted to this
AmandaMarie 11 Posted May 13, 2013 I feel for you. Here is what I have done: I use the Oh Yeah ready made Protein Drinks found on Amazon. strawberry and banana are my favs and at 32 grams of Protein - I'm half way there. I then made Turkey meatloaf muffins (turkey, egg whites, finely chopped bell pepper and onion and Tomato sauce). I keep them in the freezer for frig until I'm ready. I heat a couple of muffins with marinara or jarred spaghetti sauce. Once heated through I put it through the immersion blender until it's the consistency of Soup. It really tasted OK and I feel I am eating real food. One turkey meatloaf muffin is 60 calories and 11 grams of protein. I eat two at a time. For a bit of delicacy I picked up a seafood bisque at the grocery store, watered it down with 1 can of skim milk and purred it a little more with the immersion blender. That has been yummy also. I hope these ideas help. - Amanda 1 Singer reacted to this

Luka Beth 78 Posted May 14, 2013 Its also called a stick blender. You can put it into a pot instead of putting hot liquids into a blender...which can be super dangerous
AmandaMarie 11 Posted May 14, 2013 What is an immersion blender? Sorry, I feel so stupid:) What is an immersion blender? Sorry, I feel so stupid:) I wouldn't have known it by name either until I got one. It's a stick with a small blade at the end that can be put directly into a pot. Kitchen aide makes one. They can be found at Target. I'm getting a lot of use out of mine right now.
