So I had my meeting with the surgeon on Friday. It went great, I was so nervous, but he was great. I have only a few things to do before we can schedule surgery, (2) appointments with a nutrisionist, (1) with a psychologist (which I am nervous about), Some X-Ray, PCP letter, and Blood work, everything wil be done by June 4th... Does anyone know after you complete the steps how long after is surgery schedule? I really hope to get it done during the summer so I don't have to worry about how my son is going to get to school... :D

Every doctor is different when it comes to scheduling surgeries, so it's hard to tell. For most as long as you have everything completed and allow enough time to do pre-op diet (if required), they will get you in ASAP. But, sometimes insurance will drag out the process for a while (assuming that you are going through insurance). As far as the psychologist visit, mine was a joke. I filled out a 300+ questionnaire, and talked to the psychologist for about a half an hour. He asked me about my weight history, about what my expectations of the band were, made sure I knew this wasn't a quick easy fix, asked if I use drugs/alcohol, depression etc... It was a joke, don't worry about that part. Good luck!!!

Mine took about 4 months to complete and that was because my Nutritionist appt's had to be a month between visits and my insurance required three visits. Once everything was submitted and approved to the insurance company i went into the Dr's office to schedule my surgery.. i opted 2 weeks later due to work and loa/flma process.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
