Recommended Posts

My surgery is sched. For may 30th... My paperwork was just sent out... So my question is when should I start checking the status. I have horizon nj direct access! I'm so anxious, excited, and mostly worried that I'm getting myself so excited and then I won't be approved!

I would give it a week. If you don't hear anything give your insurance a call and see if they have any questions you can help answer. My paperwork went in on a Tuesday and was approved by Friday. They typically say 1 week.

Good luck!!

I started calling my insurance company two days after the paperwork was submitted. I wanted to make sure they had received all the paper work. I received my approval within 4 days.

Best of luck to you!

Good luck with the new you. I was approved instantly by computer. I guess every hospital and insurance company is different. I would call Thursday or Friday and that way they have a heads up that you are interested in them pushing it through.

Thank u guys so much for all your suggestions.... If I don't hear anything I'll try and call Thursday or Friday to double check that they have everything! It would be amazing to have an answer so quick! I'm guessing you guys all had your surgery? How did everything go? And any good Protein shakes that were somewhat enjoyable? Lol

My surgery is this Friday. As far as proein shakes, I really like the Unjury flavors. Specifically the chocolate Splendor and the chicken Soup. :)

Only day 3 of being submitted and I'm already getting anxious! It's like a awful waiting game.. The insurance company's make this so difficult! In the meantime I'm probably giving myself an ulcer being so nervous and anxious about finding out if I will be approved.. And my surgery date is may 30th! So I'm worried if they don't make a decision it will be rescheduled... :(

They got it Tuesday and told me they would be in contact to start the process. They have until tomorrow afternoon and then I am calling them.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
