Airplane Seats

Recommended Posts

You can buy one for about $40. You could resell it on ebay when no longer needed and get most if not all your money back. That would be better than taking one.

Amen Wheetsin!

I think you'd be far more embarrassed if you were detained for stealing the seat-belt extender than you'd be to ask for one on the occasions when you fly.

The last time I flew, I weighed 320 and I'm 5'6". I had to ask for an extention which was pretty embarrassing, but the attendant was very nice and discreet. I was only an inch or two from being able to fasten it without the extension, so you should have no problem at all.

The attendant told me to keep mine with me. They said that they have 10 on board at all times, because they expect people to take them. And that it costs about $5 for them to replace. So I took mine. $40 on ebay seems a bit steep after her telling me that. LOL

That is my biggest fear about flying, too. When you get to the airport to check in, ask if the flight is full. If not, then ask to have an empty seat next to you. As soon as you get on the plane (as in, as soon as your feet are in the door), ask the attendant for an extender. Then you'll be fine,

I'm 5'2" and 250ish is always my "breaking point" for needing a seatbelt extender. Pre-band, 255, I needed one. My most recent trip post-band, 235ish, I was fine without. Don't be embarassed. Quietly ask for one.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
