I'm in Ontario Canada. I go into surgery on Wednesday and am going to buy my Protein Shakes. What kind should I buy and where do I find it?

If Canadian food stores are at all like US versions, there's a TON of varieties of all flavors and manufacturing sources. Generally personal experience determines choices after that.

Sizes of canisters vary; it's best to get the smaller ones until you find something you like.

I was fortunate in finding a good half-dozen that were pretty good. Of course now I have forgotten the name.

Most big stores have a section of "health food" and there is often at least a dozen choices.

cheers on your journey

I use Bariactric Advantage it is online I get the Bariactric Advantage Meal Replacement shakes, vanilla taste good they have chocolate too. For regular Protein Shakes, they carry nectar which is like a juice ( you add Water ) they have a variety of flavors and they have vanilla and chocolate you can add skim milk to. But I'm sure you'll get a lot of responses, there are a lot of them out there.

I use muscle milk light and Premier Protein shakes. They are low in sugar (only 1 gram) and have a whopping 30 grams of Protein in each! And they taste great!

Not sure if this is available up north but I'm drinking Pure Protien chocolate shakes. It is low fat, 30 grams of protien and it's surprisingly good! It's on sale this week at costco if they have those in Canada.

USA has much better selection than what I can find around here. (I'm also from Ontario). I did find some nice Protein Powder at Popeyes, low in carbs and sugar and high in Protein. I always make a protein smoothie for Breakfast so am always on the lookout for good protein powder. I'm heading to USA this weekend and have been making notes along the way of protein powders that I see noted here, so will be loading up before I come home. Much more flavour variety, not just chocolate and vanilla. Blah, boring.

Tiny, keep me posted what you find. I travel to the US often and may want to look these up.

Yes, will let u know what I find. And yogurts in the states, amazing choices again. I love heading into grocery stores in the USA, so much variety.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
