First off I have psoriasis and I take Enbrel for it. I have sensitive skin and tend to get cyst pretty easy too. I was just wondering if anyone has these same issues and has the band? I just wondered if you have sensitive skin or other issues does the same thing go on inside. If my skin gets irritated I can have a flare. So, then would the band have a better chance of irritating me? I was also concerned that I might get a cyst under the band or around the port. I'm going to talk to my Dr. I see him next week for pre-op. Just wondered if anyone has the band and these issues also, and how has it worked out so far for them? Thanks

I also have psoriasis, well psoriatic arthritis and I never even thought about this! I'm on remicade, it's an iv infusion every 5 weeks so were planning the surgery around that... If u gear anything from your dr let me know... Psoriasis is terrible...

Yea. I'll let you know. I'm on Enbrel but the Dr. said not to worry about it I don't have to stop taking it.

Only connective tissue autoimmune diseases and a few specifically listed gastrointestinal autoimmune diseases are contradictions to the Lap Band. This is per the Allergan website.

Psoriasis isn't one and isn't listed so you should be fine.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
