If they are still driving their SUVs out on the ice to go ice fishing they probably are.

I miss fresh Water fishing up there! We had property on a lake near Brainard, actually Little Falls. Walleye is my favorite! It was 90 here today!

It is beautiful. In a raw beautiful and cold unforgivable way. I'm originally from Colorado. I also appreciate all the Water and woods here. I live b Grand Rapids so same part of the state.

I'm from Kansas City and I went to Minnesota in March of 2012. I saw several SUVs out on the ice. I thought to myself, wow, the roads must be very dangerous here when it snows or there is freezing rain.

When I got to my meeting I told one of the guys that I witnessed several wrecks along the way. When he asked where and I told him they were all on the Water he started laughing at me and kindly informed me those were likely ice fisherman. He then took me to his office and showed me some big bluegill he caught ice fishing and had mounted.

Boy did I feel silly!!!

I love it!!! I know I was shocked at the little communities of ice fisherman out on the lakes here during the winter. Ive gotten used to it now and go our with my Minnesotan husband to his ice house now and then. This state is truly unique in IRS love of winter.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
