I'm 8 days banded and the gas pain recently started on day 5. It's on my left side and left shoulder. Initially it was so bad it brought me to tears. It's gotten a little better however it's constant. I've read a lot about the pain coming and going. Mine never leaves. Anyone else have this problem??

Yes it's in my left side as well I'm using the Gas X dissolvable strips and they are really pushing the gas out, it the air that they fill up you lower cavity to get to the stomach. Yes I'm feeling the same thing a lot of discomfort.

I'm taking 1 every 2-3 hours it's working but it feels like something is pitching my left shoulder, I get some relief and I'm also taking Miralax to help me with a bowel movement. I feel the gas moving and its coming out from the other end. Lol

I feel your pain! I'm 5 days post op and still have gas trapped in my chest. At least that's what I think it is. When I sit up I feel a dull pain in my chest like a gas bubble is moving up then it goes away, then it comes back. It also happens when I drink sometimes. After reading lots of posts the only real cure is to walk, walk, walk. I hear it can take 2 to 3 weeks until the gas is gone. Hope you start feeling better soon.

I posted my gas tip in the pre-op. But basically is walking walking, use the spirometer, take GasX and try to go to the bathroom "number 2" even if you don't feel for it. Just "pushing" made me start burping like crazy last night and I feel so much better this morning. Hang in there! I only have gas pain and is terrible but it will go away!

ugh, I'm in the same boat. Banded 4/29 and yesterday and today has been the worst and most painful it has been to date. I'm taking Gas X now and it made me burp a few times....I'm walking and walking...it's really painful. It's brought me to tears last night and today. :(

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
