rbmk14 59 Posted May 11, 2013 First of all, I just got my approval letter from my insurance company yesterday!! I'm so excited to get this started and have already done my initial consultation and blood work and all of that. Now I'm thinking ahead to the preop diet, and mine is 2 Protein Shakes a day and one high Protein, low carb meal (I'm doing mine through True Results). They gave a list of a few different protein shakes they recommend but what are some that taste good and are actually filling? I know I can stick to the diet even though it'll be hard but it'll be a lot easier if the shakes actually keep you full for a while!
AmineR8705 140 Posted May 11, 2013 I'm taking Baratric Advantage for my Pre-Op diet that I'm currently on. They are very filling and have about 26g of Protein in two scoops (serving size). I bought mine through my doctors office for 50.00 bucks a bag and I got two bags with chocolate and vanilla. They have a webstie you can get on and order or just to check them out (I think they are 60.00 bucks online). My surgeon and dietician recommened them to me at my Pre-Op appointment. I'm also on a low carb high caliorie diet. I have been eating Weight Watcher Smart ones for the past 7 days and they are pretty good! I drink 3 protien shakes and day and they do keep me over till dinner time and they are tasty!! Let me know if you have any questions!! -Amine 1 rbmk14 reacted to this
B-52 7,113 Posted May 11, 2013 I make my own in a blender (smoothie) and add the things to it I want, also some additional Protein and Fiber concentrate.....I still do that for my Breakfast and have done so ever since my surgery..... 1 LJCBF reacted to this
feelinggood 152 Posted May 11, 2013 I tried so many and have a cabinet full of Protein powders. I finally settled on Premier (Chocolate) from costco. Didn't love it the first time I tried it but it is now the only one I can stomach. 1 SueBee01 reacted to this
Chris_tina83 37 Posted May 13, 2013 I use the vanilla Premier Protein from costco. I've never tried the chocolate one. I don't like to drink it by itself, so I add different fruits to it every morning. Strawberries, blueberries, banana, etc. it has 160 calories, 1g of fat and 30g of protein..my smoothies keep me full for 4-5 hours
rbmk14 59 Posted May 14, 2013 Thanks everybody! The two I was thinking about were Premier Protein from costco and the Bariatric Advantage, so maybe I'll get some of both and see which one I like best before I actually start the pre-op diet. Amine I also have been eating the Smart One's meals for lunches and I like them a lot! I didn't think they would keep me full because I've tried Lean Cuisine's before but the Smart One's are a lot better!

I think I'm going to stick to those post op! I never thought I would ever like frozen portioned meals like those and I like the variety too! I might try those again down the road for dinner!
