DetChatt 188 Posted May 10, 2013 Drinking while eating. Not taking time to eat at regular intervals and then over-eating one big meal. Carbs; a thing of the past.
TheDuchess 106 Posted May 10, 2013 My first habit I've changed is drinking while I'm eating - which has been very difficult since I have a method (Bite, bite, drink) and I've had to break it. I always wash it down with Water. The habit I'm having the most difficulty with is chewing more, and eating slowly. I'm worried it'll be a habit that will stand in the way once I get the lapband. 2 dylanmiles23 and ☠carolinagirl☠ reacted to this
Lori123 170 Posted May 11, 2013 my first thing that i HAD to change was my attitude if i went into this (surgery) with a what if i cant' date=' what if that, what if this, i would have been in for a long ride.....the first thing i changed was ME...i told myself if i was able to get my insurance to approve this surgery, and find a great doctor, that i would do whatever it took to help myself..sure i failed in the past and this was my (last stand)..once i changed my attitude from woe is me and i cant to I WANT.....it was game on.......and i can see the end zone from here..[/quote'] Your absolutely right! I had to do the same thing after failing at so many other methods and diets. I said "your done, this is it" after seeing my lab work and was prediabetic. I think what you said is the first thing everyone has to change before doing this ! Congrats on your success! 1 ☠carolinagirl☠ reacted to this
dylanmiles23 2,198 Posted May 11, 2013 I gave up straws, a pint of ice cream almost every night and making wonderful home made popcorn in my Whirley. I ate about 7-10 cups of popcorn without butter and salt. I like plain things. I also gave up my favorite side dish, well done french fries, no salt. When I eat burgers now, no rolls. 1 ☠carolinagirl☠ reacted to this
It'sTime 82 Posted May 11, 2013 I dropped the carbonated beverages so fast it would make Dale Earnhardt, Jr. envy. 2 ☠carolinagirl☠ and eddamae reacted to this
SueBee01 630 Posted May 12, 2013 Pre surgery it was sweet tea, soda, white bread and Pasta. Post op it was not drinking with meals. Took back the bread and pasta, but only whole grain and small amounts. 1 ☠carolinagirl☠ reacted to this

JARS517 54 Posted May 13, 2013 The first thing I did was stop my many diet Mt. Dew drinks a day. I had a pretty bad habit with the diet drinks. I am pretty sure I drank the equivalent of a 2-liter every day if not more. I quick cold turkey. That was 9 months ago. I haven't missed them and I don't miss lugging the 2-liters and 12 packs in from the grocery store! We drink a lot of Crystal Light lemonade now, though. 1 ☠carolinagirl☠ reacted to this

missybear 86 Posted May 14, 2013 Definitely small bites and breaks between bites. I eat with a teaspoon or oyster fork at home and at work, which helps 3 TheDuchess, leannel90 and ☠carolinagirl☠ reacted to this
