What was the first habit you changed?

Recommended Posts

I'm curious out of all the changes they list that could be helpful in weight loss what was the first bad habit you changed?

Is it still a staple in your weight loss now? (Do you still practice it)

I only have bread in a restaurant, now, if it's good. I eat the crust and leave the doughie part.

Also, I have a Protein Shake every morning for my Protein because I hate Breakfast foods.

my first thing that i HAD to change was my attitude

if i went into this (surgery) with a what if i cant, what if that, what if this, i would have been in for a long ride.....the first thing i changed was ME...i told myself if i was able to get my insurance to approve this surgery, and find a great doctor, that i would do whatever it took to help myself..sure i failed in the past and this was my (last stand)..once i changed my attitude from woe is me and i cant to I WANT.....it was game on.......and i can see the end zone from here..

Dropped diet coke and drinking with meals. Yes, they are both still helpful for weight loss.

I really did not change any habits on my own, untill the band, after a fill or two, started to compell (force) me to do so.....

I did however step up my exercising, Water intake, and ensured I got all my daily Protein....all things I continue to do even today.....

Well it was Soda cause I used to drink two 2 liter bottles of Dr. Pepper by myself, so I quit soda and all the carbonated drinks, now I can't even do corn tortillas , bread, pork chops or hot dogs or I will get the stuck feeling and I hurt afterward so I don't eat these things anymore as time goes you learn what you can tolerate and what you can't and you Really have to learn to eat in moderation , I am no longer starving myself but I just eat real little and it keeps me satisified fo the 4 to 5 hours , if I do feel hungy in between I eat fruit or a Protein Bar to satisfy and I drink plenty of Water it keeps me full.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
