My Dr wants me to drink about 1/2 gallon of Water a day and I find it hard to drink more than (2) 16 oz. bottles a day. I am not drinking anything else (tea etc)

Any one else having trouble with their Water intake? What are you doing to help? Pointers?

takes a while to learn to trick yourself but I made sure I have a 16 oz or better bottle of snapple or Water right next to me at all time. Computer, tv kitchen, bed, car seems once you pour it your brain drinks it...make rules like no meal untill you had a glass of water stuff like that. If you work get a washed out gal mail cartan fill it and put it next to on on your desk Iam sure you can think of more..no water? no phone good luck

I am lucky and can still drink Water pretty fast so I down a bottle at a time several times a day. I drink well over 100 oz on an average day and then have a low calorie gatorade.

I also have a difficult time. I keep a 32oz bottle at my desk throughout the day, and try to drink a 16oz bottle while I'm in the car. Most days I end up having only about 40oz. I'm working on it.......

I am a huge iced tea drinker. I brew my own Decaf and use sweetener , I hate lemon. I drink this all day. At night I have a lot of hot tea. There must be something like this you like. Good luck nit you have to drink. Doctors know best

I know people that use thinly sliced cucumbers by itself or with lemon, lime or orange. Be careful not to rely 100 percent on teas and powders. Your body is 80 percent Water so it is important to have some of the real thing. Also I believe teas have to be Decaf to count towards water intake.

I'm in the Crystal Lite camp (cheaper Walmart version), but I also drink a lot of plain Water. It does take a while to build up the ability to get all that water in. I drink at least 2 L a day, sometimes more. But I still have to sip and not gulp, even 2 years later or I sound like one of those water dispensers gurgling away and people start to look at you funny. Just like diet and exercise, with regards to water and what to add, find what works best for you. It gets easier. :)

Yea, I have just started adding Water into my diet, 2 liters a day. I keep a bottle that hold 8 glasses of water in it by my side all day, but I find that it makes me feel full and bloated and almost nauseated. I guess it is just a matter of getting use to it. I can down decaffeinated tea with sweetener with no problem, but I'm trying to get use to drinking actual water because it seems like any little thing gets in the way of me losing, as in the sweeteners. Such a bummer.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
