Hoping someone can help me

Recommended Posts

Hello, It has been awhile since I posted. I had lap band surgery done on Jan. 10 of this year. I have lost about 40 pounds and have not yet had a fill. I am starting to have a few problems I was wondering if anyone had anything similar to me. Where my port is, it just plai hurts when I move, not all the time but good enough. I also now seem to have bad heart burn. I take achiphex for that, but it does not seem to help. I went to the drs and they did a cat scan and I am waiting on that. I am becoming very uncomfortable and can't figure out why. I was hoping to have a fill, but I don't think that is going th happen now . Any suggestions I wou,d love to hear and hope that everyone is doing well.

As much as many of us wish that we had the "right" answer, the reality is, only your doctor can diagnose what is wrong. Even if others have had a similar onset of pain, it doesn't necessarily mean that it's the same as what is going on with you. Hopefully you will have the results of your scan sooner than later. Wish I had a better answer.....

Just a word of caution: when I was experiencing severe complications from banding, the CT scan showed nothing wrong. Meanwhile, the band was causing a lot of damage. So don't rely on the CT scan alone. CT scans aren't the best diagnostic tools for band issues. But it's a good first step, anyway. I hope it's nothing serious.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
