Advocare 24-day Challange

Recommended Posts

I was curious if anyone has done this, especially post lap-band? Someone gave me a sample of the Spark drink and I tried it today and loved it. I think there are pills involved in the 24-Day Challenge so I don't really know how feasible it is at this point.

I actually started it Monday and by Wednesday morning I was down 2.8lbs so I cant complain!! However, being a lap-band patient you have to really be committed as there are a lot of big pills involved. All of the pills can be cut or crushed (minus one) it can just be time consuming. Being that there is one pill that cannot be cut/crushed it has to be substituted for another product so everything has to be purchased separately vs buying the bundle. It is not a huge deal nor is it really more expensive, you just have to know what to get :) Hope this helps, if I can answer any more quested just let me know!!

i am not banded yet, but i am an Advocare distributor myself and have done the 24 day challenge. i lost 15 pounds on it. Advocare is an awesome product, i will be using the Meal Replacement shakes post surgery, and adding the Protein Shots into it. i love my Advocare!!....good luck can't wait to hear how well you did...also if you take the Catylist it will help shrink up loose skin...and those pills can be opened so you can mix them into a spark drink.

I have yet to hear a bad thing about AdvoCare! Yes - I am taking the Catalyst...I wish they were all capsules like that! I have been taking the Spark since May and love it. I was doing the 5 hour energy drinks, but could not sleep. No issue with the Spark. I had been debating on the 24-day challenge for a while and after talking to yet another friend who tried it and hearing how much better she felt I decided why not! I don't really need it for the weight loss, have my band for that so that is just an added bonus, I just want to feel better! So far I do so its a win win

indeed it's a healthy advantage to have. I didn't start it for weight loss i wanted to feel better. Yes that Slam energy i used to drink one before i bowled every week. really focused my game and had me really improved in my average...lol....

I was banded 11/9/12 and only lost 48lbs. I'm actually starting to gain back......

I have Facebook friend who swears by Advocare. She has lost 70 pounds since January.....4 months!!!

She sent me the link and told me to order through her but I haven't ordered yet because I wanted to get on here and see if any other banded people have tried Advocare and what were your results.

Thanks

I use the spark all the time and LOVE it! I have done the cleanse twice and lost 3lbs each time. Most of their pills are huge though and there are a lot, especially in the 24-day challenge. So it got to be to much. Some of them can't be crushed or cut up either so you need to be mindful of that.

I did the 24 day challenge about a year ago (before being banded). I personally think it's just one of those things for people to make money. I lost 7pounds and was sick the whole time. I wouldn't suggest it post op because they pills are HUGE! And a lot of them you can buy over the counter without paying the "advocare" cost.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
