Post Opp Diet Variations

Recommended Posts

From reading others posts, it seems like the post-op nutrition plans are very different. For example, mine is:

Day 1-3: Clear broths, Jello, sf popsicles

Day 3-7: Add mashed potatoes, sweat potatoes, low fat creamy Soups (drained), cottage cheese, soupy grips, soupy oatmeal

Week 2: Soft foods aka plastic fork tender

It sounds like others might be more restrictive? Can anyone share a high-level post opp nutrition plan of theirs? Also, when I had my gastric bypass in 2004, I remember pureed foods being allowed, but my nutrition info doesn't mention that. It also doesn't mention when I can start having eggs. (But, I went ahead and had one for dinner last night without any trouble).

Thanks!

You sound like your surgeon is very non-aggressive. I had to wait 2 weeks to move from clear to full, and then another 2 weeks to move to puree. When was your surgery? and why are you trying to rush through the phases? You need to slow down and follow your surgeon's rules! best wishes, don't mean to sound harsh. Karen

My surgery was on the 1st. I wouldn't say that I am rushing through the phases, with the exception of eating a scrambled egg. In fact, I think I am following them exactly except for needing the Protein of the egg. The rules I posted came from the doctor. Thanks for posting your comparison!

I had soft scrambled eggs during week 2. They were so good after only having only liquids. My diet was as follows:

Days 1&2: Clear Liquids

Rest of week 1: liquids

Week 2: mushies, including soft scrambled eggs, oatmeal, yogurt, cottage cheese, etc

Week 3: fork tender meats as tolerated
