Yes, I know the answer is to call the dr, but in the interim until tomorrow, need help

Recommended Posts

Been banded since 12/14- to date I have no fills but occasionally get stuck just by having the band. My dr confirms that this happens, just not often. In the last 3 days I have gotten stuck twice (most recent time being a few minutes ago). Both times on the last slime there were small (very, very small) speckles of blood. Has anyone else had this? I know I need to call the dr in the am, but was just curious. Any help you can lend would be greatly appreciated.

I know you're not going to want to hear this but I think you should go to the doctor now. This seems like a bit of an emergency to me. And switch to liquids to be safe as well.

Not sure...maybe do liquids until you see your surgeon. That is what my surgeons office told me to do.

The dr isn't in and I am home with a 3 yr old so there is no way I can do anything until tomorrow. Just seems weird and I will call in the am

Darnit. For sure switch to fluids (no solids to eat until you see the doctor). If you are in pain...or if the bleeding worsens...just take your daughter and get to an ER. They can call your doctor in if need be. Help is there if you need it. Sorry I can't help more!

Thanks I honestly feel fine and it was the equivalent of three drops of blood so I am not overly panicked. The dr will call me in the am and hopefully it is nothing just wanted to see if it happened to anyone else

Oh good deal. If you feel okay that's what matters. Hopefully just a little irritation on your esophogus from stomach acid or being stuck. Hope all goes well tomorrow with the doctor and he'll likely dismiss it as not too big a deal if you're okay by then.

Have a great night and a good rest.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
