Tomorrow May 7th is the day! Who is with me?

Recommended Posts

I wouldn't say I'm scared but just anxious to get started on this next chapter. I have lost 16 pounds on the pre-op diet which almost broke me, but I got through it and I'm ready! If I can do that I know I can make my band work for me for the rest of my life. Also I set a goal of a 5k on 8/17. I may have to walk it but I will be in it!

Surgery tomorrow! So excited! Not really nervous but I cannot sleep ( maybe because my little girls are spending the night with my in- laws and aren't here). Any last words of advice?

Good luck to all of you. The best advise I can give you is walk walk walk tomorrow after surgery. Try to walk up and down your street about 1/2 block every hour on the hour it will really help with the gas. I had my surgery at 6:00 am and was home by 10:00 am the same day. Walked and walked and didn't have any gas until the next day and it was very little. I felt great.

I'm on my way!!! They moved me up to 6am and it is 90 minutes from me! Now if I can just not go to the bathroom before I get there so I can do the pregnancy test I will be happy!!! Nothing like no Water after midnight, but make sure you can pee in a cup when you get here

Went well and in my bed. I have been walking but the gas seems to be sitting on my chest and not so much in the shoulder. Hard to take deep breathes.

How's everyone going who got banded on the 7th of May or around then and have u lost anything yet

I was banded May 6th. I'm feeling great!! I have lost 6 pounds in the first week of banded life. No pain, nausea, problems to speak of. My incisions are still very tender (well mainly just my port incision), but that's to be expected. My energy levels are near normal. I'm adjusting to the purée diet. Overall I'm feeling great!! How about everyone else on here??

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
