hely88 883 Posted May 5, 2013 I am looking for a bar that is under 200 calories low carb and around 20 Protein. I found Quest bars and I love the lemon. Any other suggestions??
isis3180 46 Posted May 5, 2013 if you look at the ingredients of most Protein Bars it is mainly a candy bar with higher Protein. i would suggest Protein Shakes. there are many varieties out there to choose from. GNC has some, that are good. look for the more natural ingredients.
2012 359 Posted May 5, 2013 I was going to say Questbar, but this is brand new so you may not be aware, but they have a cookie dough version, unfortunately vitaminshoppe does not have them, but I just ordered a box of them thru GNC's website today. They also have Peanut Butter cups, but I couldn't buy just a package of them (versus an entire box), so I did not get those yet. I was just looking at Protein bars yesterday at GNC and Kroger and trying to find lower cal, low fat, and low carb (even using net carbs) is just about impossible. 1 hely88 reacted to this
hockeywife91 106 Posted May 5, 2013 I just got back from GNC and purchased my first Quest bars. I bought 5 different flavors and I'm looking forward to trying them. The lady at GNC told me that the Quest bars are their most popular bars. I also heard if you put the cookie dough one in the microwave for a few seconds, it is heavenly. I'm going to try that tonight! 1 hely88 reacted to this

hely88 883 Posted May 5, 2013 Ok so I just want to let you know what my nutritionist said. She says they have a ton of Fiber and some of them have sugar alcohol so they can cause stomach issues and cramping. They have about 17 grams of fiber. I tried one of the peanut kind and it was so horrible I could not finish it. I also bought some different flavors. Can't wait to try the strawberry cheesecake. I would not use this on a daily basis or for a Meal Replacement. I use it only after full body workouts. As for shakes. I can't stand them and they can't stand me and the calories add up to fast if you add anything like banana or peanutbutter. Thanks for the suggestion but I am looking for high Protein Bars. hely88 883 Posted May 6, 2013 I sent this link to my nutritionist for approval. Has anyone tried them? http://www.cytosport.com/products/muscle-milk/muscle-milk-light-bars
asquill17 72 Posted May 6, 2013 Have you tried the "kind" bars? Those are my favorite, but you can have stuck episodes if you don't chew thoroughly.

They might be ok for a snack, but not enough Protein for me to use after workouts.
asquill17 72 Posted May 6, 2013 My next favorite are the zone bars. I have to stick to a gluten free diets and these are what I would have after my hot yoga sessions (I'd burn 930 calories in a session) those and a kind bar was always good after warrior dash (5k obstacle course)

I find I am doing great then BAM I have to figure out how to readjust again. It is a never ending journey, but one I am glad to be on!
megamomnj 334 Posted May 6, 2013 Have you tried the Cliff Mini bars? I find that a big Protein bar is just too much for me and a mini one is just enough to keep me going for hours. I think they are only 10 grams of Protein but also only 130 calories. I don't eat them often but keep them around in case I need them. hely88 883 Posted May 7, 2013 So I hate the Quest bars. They made me crave sugar and very head hungry. I am going to concentrate on trying to add a healthy snack instead of a bar or shake.< /p>
isis3180 46 Posted May 8, 2013 for more Protein try nutritional yeast. it has something like 8g in 2tsp. its tastes great and you sprinkle it on things, so the Proteins add up that way over the day. 1 hely88 reacted to this
