pain around port & big incision area

Recommended Posts

I was banded on March 19, it took until April 25 to actually start feeling completely normal around my incisions. I was able to lay on my stomach without the tenderness. But all of a sudden today for some reason I went to lay on my side and then when I turned over there the tenderness was again...ugh now all day it has been tender wtf? I go to my doctor this Monday but has anyone else had this problem? Will I ever feel normal? The doctor said I should be able to do anything that I was doing before...whether wrestling around, hard-core exercise etc....but it doesnt seem like I ever will be able to do anything like that. Frustrated!

I haven't been banded yet so I don't know what your going through. I think the best thing though is to talk with your Dr., Which I know you said you were, so that's good. I'm sorry your having this problem and I hope everything comes out OK. Good luck

I was banded on April 24th so I'm not quite there yet but I am on a 6 week lifting restriction no more than 15 lbs. 6 weeks seems like forever to me but maybe that's how long they expect everything to heal completely. I'm sure you will get there it just might take more time. Call your dr. Just to be safe.

my port area was sore aka tender for about a month

its the scar tissue forming and seemingly from what you

describe, perfectly normal..however, me not being a doctor,

if you are overly concerned, def give your dr a call..

ps, as the days pass, that feeling will go away :)

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
