I feel like I did 1000000 sit ups. I have gas beyond belief. I feel like I want to burp and can't. I've drank maybe an ounce of Water every 5 mins. Please someone tell me this gets better, I feel like crying and telling myself why did I do this to myself :(

It will get better.... you have to get up and move ..about once an hour get up and walk around your house... also it helps to use a pillow or something to support your stomach when you get up.. take your pain meds... the gas will go away but it takes time.. I know I felt the same way about it but trust me you will be so happy when you see the results.. sip liquids often.. you do not want to get dehydrated. focus on yourself healing.. it will take about a week to get semi-normal. Good Luck

I got banded a week ago.keep a bag of ice on ur stomach for the swelling.im still sore.take a small pillow in the car with you to help with the bumps in the road.you shouldnt need a lot of pain meds after the first dew days.I dont need any.Ive used ice and a heating pad.Its not as easy of an operation as they say at all.Im still shocked.I thought it was gonna be a peice of cake.NOT!!! Im like you I just hope this gets better.I feal like my health is worse. And I am eating now because my Dr. said i could.Oh yeah make sure u get a stool softener/laxative in you right away or it will hurt so bad.I had to send my dad to get dulcolax suppositories it was so bad.I hadnt went in a week.just a heads up dont let yourself get constipated.

I was banded on 4/11/13 and let me tell you that everyone is different in how their body reacts to the surgery. Gassssss.....holy hell it was bad for the first week and then it subsided. No medicine will help because it is not intestinal gas (believe me....I cornered the market on everything I could find for gas). It is the gas they inflate your abdomen cavity with so they can work safely to do your surgery. The remainder left after surgery is looking for an escape route and it landed in my left shoulder with pain so bad I thought I was having a heart attack. I started walking (slowly) and moving my arms from my sides to above my head and back down. Walking is the only fix for the gas pain.

I know it may seem like the worst thing you have ever done but believe me.....when the pain is gone.....you will be feeling wonderful. I am just ending the first week of my pureed food and haven't been hungry one single time.....the best part is that I have more energy than I have had in years. Sip Water, other liquids, eat popsicles and walk....walk and more walking...

Never had a problem with Constipation either so I never took anything for it....this is just a difference in people I guess. The more you walk, the more things will move in this department also.

Trust me.....it will get better and you will be so glad you did it. Just make sure you follow the post-op food rules of your doctor. You need to heal both inside and out. Good luck to you sweetie....just don't get discouraged!!

I know this sounds crazy but a friend banded before me shared this and it worked. When you are up walking around do a chicken walk... Flap your arms a lot. It stirs up the gas and helps you pass it. Walk as much as you possibly can. That helped me tremendously. I also got some gas x strips.

I just had a meeting about what to expect when I have my lapband and I was told to do the Cat hump. Get up on all fours and hunch up your back. Also gas-x strips or liquid will help also. This is what I was told. I'll be having my surgery May 30th, 2013.

At first I was thinking the same thing, why did I do this to myself. The first day at the hospital I was doing ok only because I had a button I can push every 10mins for pain, oxygen for my breathing, a heating pad thing that was connected to this machine that filled it with hot Water, and some things on my legs that kept pumping with air and releasing to help with circulation and prevent blood clots. The next day when I was released and came home was the worst. Standing felt like my incisions were going to rip open. I have this really big incision that looks like every time I get up it caves in more and makes my abdomen look disfigured. Today was better, still hurts when I get up, but not as much. It has been real hard to breath today, I feel like someone knocked all the air out of my lungs when I get up or try to talk to much. I'm just taking it one day at a time and hoping to feel a little better tomorrow and with each coming day. That's good that you were able to drink something. At the hospital I got like two sips of broth and three sips of water the whole time I was there. Take your pain meds every four hours and try to sleep and whenever you do get up to use the restroom try walking around for a little bit. I hope you feel better!!!

My dr had me moving and walking immediately and I have to say I never experienced the gas pain or any pain that liquid tylenol didnt cure, actually went to work the next day, not that i had the dr permission. However I did experience it with a c-section. You can develop 2 different type of gas issues after abdominal surgery. One is intestinal gas the other is gas in the abdominal cavity. The gas in the abdominal cavity is what I had after the c-section that will travel from your chest right up into your shoulder. I thought I was having a heart attack at first. Check out this site I found for you it explains it in more detail.

I was also banded the first. My gas has calm down but when I breathe deeply, I get a sharp pain in my left shoulder. I can't wait to "shake it out." I might try this chicken dance/cat crawl thing described here. Lol, if nothing else, maybe it will give me a good laugh and push some more gas out.

Hang in there!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
