Can anyone feel their band in their stomach?

Recommended Posts

I've lost 70 lbs since 09/12 and can now feel my band in my stomach, not my port. Is this normal?

It's usually behind the breastbone area which makes it highly unlikely that most of us can feel a band. Unless it's slipped somewhat. I do feel my port bubble off my belly button area.

When my band slipped last month, I started feeling the band with everything I ate. For about a week. Don't feel it anymore, but for a short time, I swear I could feel it. No pain, just I knew it was there

Do you mean through the skin? It is highly unlikely you can feel the band, you may however be able to feel the tubing.

Agreed, but sometimes, I can feel the cold liquids pass through the band. I can feel the port, tho". And at times the port is very dominate. Karen

nope, i dont think you can feel the lap band that is stitched to your stomach inside your body :)

but def feel the port......more so as you lose weight/fat from your stomach..i can see mine now...where when i started, i was like, did i even have a port?? too much fat to feel it......true statement....and one reason it never hurt to sleep on my tummy (fat protected it)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
