McDonald's french fries = the devil

Recommended Posts

French fries in general are a killer:target:. If I want them I really have to eat them by themselves and it is normally 4 to 6 fries. I dare not drink anything or try to eat anything before I eat the fries.

I spend more time running my kids from here to there than I'd like to admit, so fast food is a given for me. I will only go to Wendy's, Chik-Fil-A, and Arby's though. I have found that chicken nuggets at these places go down just fine (at least 2 or 3 with excessive chewing, anyways), all have diet lemonade, and offer fruit, baked potatoes, yogurt, and/or salads. When I'm feeling kinda yucky, I get a junior frosty or shake, and sip on it instead - lots of calories, but the milk is better (protein/vitamins) than not having anything!!

Fries are SOOOO a thing of the past for me!!! I have to admit that I continue to steal one from the bag from time to time, which ruins my chances of eating anything else for the meal (that pain totally ruins my appetite!!!)

I can not eat one bite of any kind of french fry! (Thank goodness) That is the control I need.

When I was first banded without proper restriction I could eat mashed potatoes or baked potatoes... NO MORE! Another great thing for me!

Thanks for the tips. I have found Chik-Fil-A's nuggest go down well and their kids meal isn't too expensive. Abry's chicken has a lot of breading so I've been scared to try it... I've also had a frosty and it went down great but I'm trying to avoid it since it's so much suger. I sometimes get just a choc. milk instead.

I'm still scared of salads but I think I'm ready to try them.

I get the fruit parfait at Mcdonalds....though I was just told yesterday by the nutritionist that it has too much sugar and I shouldn't eat it if its not ff and sugar free. Its 120 calories, without the granola, and 160 calories with. I think it has like 8 or 9 grams of Protein. I have kids and while I avoid fast food as much as possible its just not able to avoid it totally. I will probally continue to eat the fruit parfait as I feel its the healthiet choice for me there.

I can't eat french fries there either anymore, and I'm very grateful for that.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
