How many are you drinking? Most of us have about 4 a day. Are you getting enough calories? You really should not be that hungry if you are. Are you drinking anything else. I was allowed Clear Liquids too, broth, Crystal Light, and sugar free jello! Best wishes. keep the faith! Karen

The first 3-4 days were the hardest for me. After that, my body got used to being hungry and my stomach stopped growling. And not to long after that, I REALLY realized how addicted I was to food/eating. Since then, i’ve had no issues with hunger. I think a big part of it, is in your head (like any other addiction), and just a small part is really your body NEEDING food to survive.

Are you on full liquids or clear liquids? If full liquids, there are a bunch of different Soups you can eat, but you have to strain out the solids; cream of potato, cream of mushroom, butternut squash, cream of chicken.....lots. Campbell's has a creamy Tomato that saved me. Very satisfying, and a great alternative to all of the sweet Protein shakes. You might also want to try putting some unflavored Protein powder in V8 juice. That was another saving grace after all the sweet stuff.

Gee, never thought I'd get so sick of anything sweet, but the liquid phase of this journey changed that :P

I've been banded for 3 years now. I still remember my decision to to get banded. My daughter said "go for it mom". Then came pre-op. I didn't have a regid pre-op of liquids. I did lose a few pounds the t wo weeks before the surgery. But I do remember being hungry the week before and the few weeks after. But soon, your stomach figures out what's it suppose to do - listen to the band. Then you begin feeling less hungry. Sometimes now I have to remind myself to eat something. I do a lot of exercise. I go to the gym 4 to 5 times a week and do almost 2 hours workout. Three years ago, I could not see myself doing any of this. So believe me when I say, it is all worth it. I was 262 when I had my surgery three years ago and I am not at 179. I love to shop for clothes and go out and be with friends.

Don't give up - it is all worth it. I know this all sounds crazy, but it did to me when I was at your point. But after a couple of months with the band, you will be so excited at the changing you. Good Luck! You can do it.

each doctor has different rules... i know some don't even make you do a pre diet. Mine did and i was allow to have cream Soups. Thank God... I ate the hell out of cream of broc Soup from applebees. Like i said i was on vacation for part of my Preop diet. So every place i went i ordered the soup... Kind of became a joke... the waitress would come to the table and say... and what will you have and the crazy biker group i was with would all say..... She'll have the soup....

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
