I also hate milk and don't drink it. Muscle milk lite in chocolate flavor is pretty good ( despite the name, there is no milk in it). Premier Protein is OKAY, but a little milky. I like it better though because you get more shake and Protein for the calories, and less carbs. Don't do the Atkins shakes or EAS, way too milky tasting. I haven't tried nectar, but it sounds delicious.

Hi myshine,

You can make your own Protein shakes - use soy milk or no milk - use Water ice and some 1/4-1/2 cup low fat yogurt etc... Just be mindful of the cal if you prepare yourself.

yes i have drunk the Protein Shake w/o milk (and as lee said toss in some ice and with a vitamixer, we got a party)...i couldnt take the muscle milk taste so i have used whey extreme from Walmart in chocolate for 10+ months now...i also drink one every day (to help my Protein quota and because i like the taste).....and have put in the freezer to make my own slush..just depends on your taste...and what you like or dont like.

I cant imagine drinking liquids the rest of my life.I havnt had a fill yet and am thinking about not getting one, since i can still eat and drink ok. I weigh 210.whats your opinion?

Ok so i keep reading posts about Protein shakes and this is a little weird but i dont drink milk it makes me wanna vomit. Ive always been this way so my question is are their any Protein shake without milk?

Pretty much ANY powdered protein you get you can mix in Water, or any other liquid of your choice - people tend to mix in milk to give it more of a milkshake like taste.

I am not a big fan of chocolate or vanilla and so for me I LOVE the syntha-6 Peanut Butter cookie Protein Powder (you can get it now at GNC, or online)

it is deliciousness in a cup lol. But I like it with milk better however it is just as yummy with Water too

You don't have to drink your Protein (I don't think). My nutritionist said that she'd much rather I chew my Protein and eat "real food" than drink my protein. Talk to your nutritionist. I believe though, in order to get your proper protein in for the day, it can be a real boost. It is also vital to the healing process immediately after surgery as you're still on liquids for weeks after your surgery in most cases and protein helps to HEAL you. One of the best effects is that it makes you feel full longer. Definitely ask your nut to help out. Many of the Protein Shakes out there aren't milky and there are other ideas out there. Get your medical team involved - they're there to help! :D

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
