Stomach sounds like a bathroom/ toilet bowl

Recommended Posts

I need help

My stomach sounds like a toilet is being flushed/plunged

It's so loud that people at work have asked if I was ok. Sometimes it sounds like a fart and other times it's worse

I don't think it's lap band related because the noise is coming from my lower abdomen (no where near the band)

I work in sales and can't have these noises when i'm with a client (happened today and it was mortifying, I almost died of enbarassment )

Hate to tell you this but, yes it is normal and will probably continue. My stomach talks all the time. I just make jokes about it, "sorry about that, guess my tummy wants in on the convo". Lol

Oh dear...

Maybe have some soft music playing in the background at your office to drown out the sound?

You say it sounds like farts and a toiletbowl? did I read correctly?

Are you eating lots of Beans and other gassy foods?

I have had the same exact issues!! It will rubble so much it physically hurts. I don't feel hungry (I don't think). Before my surgery I never let my self get hungry enough to let my tummy growl. I am thinking my issue is my body is physically hungry but I don't realize it till my tummy goes nuts. If that makes any since? Maybe this is one of those things they tell you about having to re-learn your body?

I work from home Thank God! But My Boyfriend tells me my stomach makes the Loudest noises! Even from drinking Water or hunger pains. It Never sounded so disturbing. Definately Band related!

I was recently on a Skype session with the home office and even THEY could hear my stomach! Yes, I've never had so many loud noises. But I'm getting used to it and everybody knows I've got a lapband so I just blame the band. 'Cause I don't have a dog.

Me too. It's a family joke now. I'm in sales and occasionally have to explain the weird noises but I don't mind.

I'm only 1 week post op and was desperately hoping it would go away soon! So what is the cause of it, just gas?

Lol...I have the same problem! It's much worse after I drink something (especially something cold) or if I allow myself to get really hungry! I always wondered if it was band related, but now I'm convinced.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
