Lapbandster 496 Posted May 2, 2013 So about two weeks ago I started having heartburn. Nothing too major, no reflux, no gagging or night cough. I emailed my doctor thinking it wouldn't be a huge big deal but he freaked me out saying he MUST see me today for an unfill. I dropped everything and ran (actually drove 45 mins, but wtvr!) He put the syringe into my port and had me sit up and drink a glass of Water. As I drank, some Fluid spritzed out of the band into the syringe (Only a few droplets) He was satisfied with that and told me everything was fine. On the way home I started feeling some heartburn and called him. He said not to worry because it's just lingering irritation. Fast forward two weeks, and i'm still struggling with the heartburn. I emailed him yesterday and he wants to see me tomorrow for a total unfill and possibly get an x-ray on Friday. I have no issues keeping down fluids or any food (unless of course I eat like a pig without chewing properly and taking big bites) which is why I don't think I'm too tight. So I fear a slip....!! Has anyone ever had a similar story/struggle? I would love to hear, cuz i'm really lost. Of course i'm fearing the worst, and probably overreacting but my surgeon did sound nervous and asked me to come in urgently...
Cazzy 725 Posted May 2, 2013 So sorry to hear you are having these problems, i feared a slip after my last surgery as i got tighter and tighter post op but some Fluid was removed and that cured it, I had some form of reflux too, dont stress till u know what the problem is, the band may not have slipped, it could just be a dilated pouch, and if it has slipped it may only be a small one, remedied by an unfill for a while. The urgency comes mainly from not letting the siituation continue for too long, not that its life threatening so a hurdle yes,but often easily overcome Good luck let us know how things go ! 1 mama angela reacted to this
Lapbandster 496 Posted May 2, 2013 Thanks Cazzy! I appreciate the response! I just went in for an unfill and still feel some discomfort (less than before) but I am hoping it's just lingering irritation and not a major problem! (fingers crossed)
