Yes the pain meds help with the soreness. Also u need to walk around to get that gas to move! It sucks to move cause its painful but that gas they use to inflate the stomach needs to go somewhere. Until you start moving around it's going to keep u uncomfortable. So I hope this helps and u can get some relief. I liked to walk stretch my arms(especially the left one) and it helped and then I would take my pain meds afterwards and sleep then repeat it all again so the gas left within a few days for me. Also the more you move the less chance of clots you have.

Pain meds will not relieve the gas, nor will any gasx or any other over the counter gas reliever because the gas is not in your bowls but in your body cavity from the laporascopy. The only thing that will make it go away is lots of walking and time =) And yes, it will go away, I promise!

Pain meds won't help with the gas pain.....the only thing that worked for me was a heating pad...

I got banded 4/30 and I've had more gas than Sunoco. Today around 2pm I finally passed some of it. Lets just say I was able to make it from my stoops through 3 doors and 60 ft to the bathroom and I was still passing the gas. I sounded like a balloon deflating. Nonetheless i needed to change my sponge bob boxer's and shower after. My dog still looks at me confused. He has that "Don't you dare blame me" look on his face.

But in all seriousness room temp Water 64oz and walking helped me A LOT.

BAND BUDDIES UNITE!!!!

Sorry you are having a rough time. I take tylenol arthritis (Cvs) strength. The more you move the better you will feel. Walk, walk walk!!! Gas-x chewables or strips will also help.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
