there is a nice older couple who lives across the street...you know the hi and bye waves and when they are gone or we are, we take the mail and paper etc....

so the day before yesterday, me and my doberman kabo were in the front yard just sitting on the front step....and she came outside and said *you are looking so good. i bet you are feeling so much better*. i said i sure am and thank you...

later when hub came home, i said you didnt tell the lady across the street of my surgery did you. he said last year at my surgery and i was home 8 days from work, she came to him when he was outside and asked was his wife okay as she noticed my car was in the driveway and hadnt left....he said he told her i was having WLS.....

kinda surprised i asked him why on earth would you tell someone this and he said cos i am proud of you thats why

so if someone compliments you, smile and say thank you that is what i did and then use that for you to keep going..

Kabo one nice looking dawg. Does he know his name comes from a reference to Sammy H? Poor puppy.lol

I have a neighbor just like that. I told hub before surgery not to tell her anything, b/c she's the type to get on the phone and tell everyone she knows. She is also very negative and would give me grief. She just came over last week, to find out where my husband

was for the week(business trip) and she still said "no he's not, he was just on one", anyways she noticed I lost weight and wanted to know what I was doing. I said " eating better and taking care of myself". Just so happened I just finished mowing the whole yard and was still working in my garden when she came over.

Did I tell you her name is Mrs. Kravitis, from Bewitched.

That is a handsome boy. My girl Ava would probably swoon over him when she hits puberty. :)

I live in a rural community, and I have to say, I really don't mind if my neighbors keep an eye out for each other. Every situation is different, but what if you were in need of help? Thank goodness she would notice the car not being moved for several days. I told my husband at the very beginning to please, not say anything to anyone. He is a super guy, very chatty, and would think nothing of telling someone, but it's my choice to tell or not tell. I don't want to be the topic of conversation, and as much as I try to avoid certain people, we all know there are those who say deliberately mean things.

I have not yet learned how to keep from running to food to make it all better... But the band will help.

C, I love that you are so honest about your feelings working through this journey. It is not all roses and sunshine, but it sure helps us all to keep it real, or as real as we each can handle it.

Instead of looking for differences between people, who not look at what we have in common?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
