Hey, everyone!

I am 2 weeks post op. i did something horrible yesterday. I ate a bacon egg and cheese sandwich but i only took two bites out of the roll. I feel soo upset and Guilty. Good thing is that i can tolerate bread. I love subway and i really do stop myself from going to buy a 6 inch especially because i just got banded. I don't know what to do. I'm on the mushy phase until may 21st.

I lost 10lbs since surgery and i haven't lost anymore. I go back to work on may 31st. I want to look fabulous for my birthday June 14. I weigh currently 257 i want to atleast weigh 199lb for my birthday. My 21st birthday!

Please someone help me!!! I don't know what to eat!!!!!!

If I'm reading correctly, you're hoping to lose 58 lbs in a month and a half? That seems like an unrealistic expectation to me. Just focus on one day at a time and one hour at a time. Stay away from the foods your surgeon hasn't approved. This phase before you start your fills is called banister hell...a horrible time for sure, but if you manage through it, it will prepare you well for when the fills start coming.

My recommendation, start discussions with a nutritionist and look at setting realistic goals.

All the best

This is the phase where you learn to fight your head hunger. I'm going through that right now. Boy, is it tough. I was banded April 11. Some days i can barely look at food and others I could eat my shoes.

You may be getting legitimately hungry and that might be making it harder for you to fight off those head hunger demons. Try to eat a little something at least every three hours. Also, are you counting calories and tracking your food. If not, you should, it will make a huge difference. Also, two pounds a week is a great goal.

Lastly, don't beat yourself up over two bites of a sandwich. That's the head hunger demon and he's really tough to battle. Keep fighting you will win and it does get easier.

Hi.. don't beat yourself up... do the best you can.

Were you not given a suggested menu plan to follow?

If you have access to a nutritionist try and make an appointment to see them... also try and keep a food journal.

I tried i really did, but i was just so hungry and i didn't eat Breakfast.

No at the bariatric group the nutritionist doesn't take my insurance and she charges a lot of money for a consult. They just told me that i should be on a pure diet.

When I was on week 2 I was on full fluids.

My surgeon gave me the following guidelines to follow:

Week 1 - Clear Fluids

Week 2 - Full Fluids

Week 3 - Mushie / pureed foods

Weed 4 - "Normal" Solid foods

I would check with your surgeon's office to see if they have a sample menu you can follow.

here i thought i was gonna read you ate like a couple of pizza's...well whats done is done my friend...so forget it and move on. if you were hungry (was it because you were truly hungry) or did you just think you were aka head hunger? .....2 weeks post op, what phase does your dr have you on?.....if you are hungry, drink some Protein (if you are on liquids still)...

i would say to eat more filling foods as that helps you not be soo overly hungry and def drink alot... (bread is not very filling in my opinion). i love subway too..i have a 6in tuna last night.....ate the tuna and fed the 6in bread to my dobermans......

hang in there as steph says it will get better/easier :)

at this stage I would eat cream Soups any time I was hungery and tht worked until I felt better and got a couple of fills. I emptied the house and took different route to and from places to not go by the fast food places, I carried a pre make protient shake in the car to fall back on. I did best by setting myself up to success. telling the kids no junk food in the shouse any more, no Peanut Butter till I could handle it. 1-2 lbs a week is the best way to loss and keep it off. set yourself up to win this and don't beat yourself up for food you wish you hadn't eaten life happens. track your food it all comes down to cslories in and cslories burned off just like any other diet only this gives you and extra helping hand.

Protein, protein,protein and Water, water,water

Protein is whats goingmto keep you from chewing off your arm.

Greek yogurt, creamed Soups with greek yogurt added in(boost the protein). My fave was Tomato with yogurt. Low fat ricotta cheese, cottage cheese and eggs are good in the protein dept.

Really hungry, have a cup of hot Decaf tea,my fave is Chai and diet hot chocolate a good go to.

Right now it is mind over matter. You gotta make up your mind that you really want this and you're willing to suffer through the hunger.

Do things to keep busy and your head busy. Clean closets, drawers, cabinets, whatever it takes to not sit around thinking of food.< /p>

BTW. I'm 6 1/2 mths out and can still eat anything I want, just smaller portions, smaller bites and chewing it to mush.

You can do this! Tell your mind to shut the hell up.lol

From your post, I think that the most important thing you need to do, is not beat yourself up for this. That intense type of guilt can ultimately have a very negative effect on your ongoing progress. None of us here are perfect people, and do not ALWAYS make the perfect choice every waking day. I once had a diet doctor tell me that he wasn't so concerned about me being a good dieter, as much as I needed to get right back on track after a slip. I would venture to say that most all of us who got to the point of WLS, have not been so great at getting right back on track (prior to surgery). I do know how you feel, though. Just don't let the negative thinking sabotage the big picture. As Carolinagirl said, you didn't eat a couple of pizzas! You knew you momentarily stepped off your program, and got right back. THAT is the name of the long term success game.

I'm only a little over 5 weeks out, and I've had 2-3 days where I felt out of control with food. I still stayed within my weight loss range of calories, but I let the number go to 1200 instead of the 1000 I'm sticking to. And I will tell you (so you try & always be prepared), that those days were days that I let myself get ravenous before I was able to eat. Once I'm to that point, even when I'm satiated with my small meal, my brain goes on a mission to keep going. You will learn as you go along; we all do. Just try & stay off your own case, be honest with yourself WITHOUT beating the crap out of yourself

It's okay. We all get off track at some point. The important thing is getting back on track right away. Be careful and good luck. Follow my Lap Band blog at www.biscuitsandexcuses.blogspot.com

You can go to a bookstore and buy a nutrition book. It's a good place to start since I can't afford a nutritionist ...... 6-8 lbs a month is healthy weight loss. So if u slow down its natural u had wls not cosmetic remember that. Lipo is fast results. This will take time and patience. So plan on looking fabulous on your 22nd bday and for now just "feeling" fabulous that u made a decision to take care of yourself for your 21st bday!;) good luck!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
