Emotional Rollercoaster

Recommended Posts

Today is day 6 and my emotions are all over the place. I'm happy because I FINALLY get to eat something other than a Protein shake! It has been a long road. On the other hand I am TERRIFIED to step on a scale. I have not weighed myself since surgery day. *302* I was shocked to learn that I actually lost weight BEFORE I got banded. I've struggled my entire adult life and half my childhood with my weight. I keep thinking its too good to be true. What if I still weigh 302 or even worse what if I GAIN weight?!?

Congratulations!!!!!!

Some people don't get on the scale except in their doctor's office. Then there is me who weighs them self toooo many times a day. My advice, don't get hooked on a number, get hooked on smaller size clothes. The smaller size clothes are super.

I find weighing myself once a day or once every other day really helps. I always know where I am.. not getting on a scale resulted in my weighting so much.. well and also eating bad thiings. lol we all go through a rollercoaster of emotions.. its natural. I wish you well on your new journey!

Thanks everyone. Since I don't own a scale I think I'm gonna go to my aunts house (who had gastric bypass) and at least weigh myself once a week.

Just be sure to weigh yourself around the same time of the day since you do fluctuate during the day. Best wishes.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
