as swelling subsides, the hungry comes back....here is where you realize the first month is to let you insides heal from major surgery..adhere to the phases and stay hydrated...focus on starting amd making good habits/choices...its hard--dammit but it is...but it will get easier as each day passes..and in 6 months time, you will be telling something the very thing i told you....to hang in there

You've probably got a ways to go before your doctor will give you a fill; at least 3-4 weeks. I went through the hunger, but that didn't start until three weeks out. I got my first fill a little over 4 weeks out.

As Carolinagirl says, stick to your diet progression, and make healthy choices. If you have to have an extra Protein shake to stop the hunger, then do it. Whatever it takes to get through, but just stick to wherever you're at in your progression. As difficult as it is to deal with, they have it setup that way for a reason. My doctor told me flat out that the people who jump ahead with food, are the ones who end up having many issues with the band. You will get through it; MANY people on this site can attest to that :-)

Whenever I got hungry, I would grap another Water or a diet hot chocolate. Hot chocolate has become a daily must have to me.

You can do this, its mind over matter right now.

Hang in there. You won't be sorry.

I was allowed grits, oatmeal, and broth on my post-op. So I pureed some Soup and made it really thin and that was great. Maybe you should try a little soup?

At three weeks my hunger came back, but I counted every calorie and upped my walking, each week my calories were increasing slightly, I hung in there for another two weeks until I got my first fill. It was hard but if I can do it

anyone can. Good Luck.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
