Does anybody know were I can find a plate that has the specific porportions for lap band patients. I'm pretty sure I'm eating more than I should.

I agree. Get a measuring up. If im not mistaken we are only suppose to be bale to take in a half a cup of food. Walmart have cute half cup and dup containers with the lids on them

As others stated, you need to use a measuring cup (or food scale when you can't use a cup). Even if a plate is the right circumference it won't stop you from piling on too much. Measuring food is the only sure way to make sure you're not getting more than a cup per meal.

I use an Ice Tea spoon and shrimp fork. There much smaller but they have a long handle so no one else notices your tiny flatware. Yes, I take them to restaurants.

I measure everything I eat, but I had to google bariatric plate out of curiosity...lol It's a nifty looking plate. I may have to get one so I know it is MY plate :)

i was told to eat about a cup of food (protein first, then veggie and fruit)...

i am sure if i tried i could eat more then i am suppose to but just because i can

doesnt mean i should....def get a scale and measure and def ask your dr or nutritionist

if you are concerned or just need a refresher ...as for plate, i use a small salad plate and sometimes a coffee cup saucer

Once I did see one on a web site but don't recall and it was not cheap, maybe $20-$30.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
