Jayers1014 1 Posted April 30, 2013 I had my surgery on march 6, 2013 and I have only lost 12 lbs. I still feel hungry all the time I can't eat alot of things because it feels like someone is stabbing me in my chest but when I do eat I can eat more than I should be eating I think and I still don't have any Fluid in my band because of the pain I'm having eating that noone can figure out what it is....I'm stressed almost ready to give up I need some inspiration
ItsBritneyB 39 Posted April 30, 2013 Don't give up. I hated my band at first. I thought "is this thing even working?". But now that I have really put my heart and soul in it and am following all the rules, (not saying you're not) and started running, I am starting to love my band. It keeps me from over eating. It keeps me from being hungry all the time. It doesn't keep me from eating junk and that was something I had to work on myself. Plus, you don't even have Fluid in there yet so it is probably not doing much. When your doctor gets your fill right and you start getting the hang of what you can eat , then you too will love your band. Good Luck on your journey! If you have a lot of swelling it's possible to be uncomfortable but it shouldn't hurt. What size is your band? What does your surgeon say about the pain? Jayers1014 1 Posted April 30, 2013 I have no Fluid yet they just called and said there may be some air in it cause it looks like there's some restriction but if they take it out I'm afraid ill be able to eat more lol

It will always be your job to control how much and what you eat. That's one of the biggest reasons it's so important to stick to band sized portions. Have a look at this link, I think it'll help: http://drsimpson.net/fills/Lap-band-eating/lap-band-not-restriction/lap-band-and-restriction.html I have a friend who had similar issues when she was first banded. She had the primer fill and air removed and she was so much more comfortable and happy. 3 2muchfun, ☠carolinagirl☠ and dustbunny reacted to this

DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! 12,703 Posted April 30, 2013 How much Fluid do they put in the first time That depends totally on you and your doctor. There is no set amount, in fact some people don't needed fills at all 1 ☠carolinagirl☠ reacted to this
☠carolinagirl☠ 18,721 Posted April 30, 2013 yes it works but you also must def change the mental thinking instead of does it work to what do i need to do to help my band work...are you eating the allotted amount of foods your doctor advised? are you drinking your liquids? pain from eating could be from too big of bite, eating too fast or a bands way of saying you are full so stop. the band isnt an overnight thing. it take time and it requires patience. hang in there. mis is giving you good advice. 2 DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! and SeaSounders♥ reacted to this
Jayers1014 1 Posted April 30, 2013 O OK where can I go find out how much food to eat? I think I'm eating too much
lisacaron 5,075 Posted April 30, 2013 I have not been banded yet, but here is a great site to order plates bowls and cups that have the portion sizes set out in the design of the dish with out looking like a toddler plate or picnic wear. http://preciseportions.com/ Hang in there, soon your going to be looking and feeling great! They should've already established eating guidelines for you. They can tell you how many calories, Protein, carbs, etc. to eat a day. 1 ☠carolinagirl☠ reacted to this
ItsBritneyB 39 Posted May 1, 2013 Thank you to everyone for being so nice and supportive. Usually when someone doubts the band or has anything negative to say about it, people get really defensive and get a little nasty! But here everyone was encouraging!
