And I am so discouraged and heart broken. I went in today for my second fill only to discover that there is a kink in my tubing. she put the saline in but the kink would not allow her to pull the saline back out. Now I am miserable, scared, and discouraged. I am to go in and have the kink fixed tomorrow but I can't help but feel that I made the wrong decision having this surgery. I am terrified that this is only one complication that will lead to many more. I'm sad, scared, heart broken and I don't know what to do! They say its nothing serious and that after it is fixed I shouldnt have any other problems, but at this moment I don't know how to feel.

They said its a rare complication but it can happen. I'm going to have the "kink" fixed tomorrow at 4. They kept saying that its a minor thing and I shouldnt have to worry about it again but its still worrisome and scary.

At my second fill, my port had totally flipped and I had to have revision surgery. That too, is rare, but it happened to me.

It is discouraging, but its just a small bump in the road.

Look at my ticker, couldn't be happier and you will be happy again soon.

Hang in there!

Maddy, thank you so much for the encouragement. I've been on the phone with my girlfriend for the longest time venting. It's scary and discouraging but it is good to know that it can happen, be fixed, and that I can get back on track. Thank you for the encouragement.

I remember reading a post from another person that had a kink in their hose. Sorry, I can't remember her name. I went back to try to find it but I couldn't. Anyway, she said it was really easy, virtually painless. They make a very small cut and then gently pull the hose to unkink it. I hope this helps. Good Luck

How do they fix the kink?

They make a small incision where the port is and reposition it. He moved my port over and straightened out the kink. They also had to remove some healing Fluid which they believe caused the kink.

Glad everything worked out!

Nine months post op by port flipped..it took four months to get them to fix it. It is exactly one year post op and now I have a kink and another leakage in my band. My wieght is exactly where I was two years ago.

I had that happen to me once...could not draw out of the band...fortunately my port is right up under the skin, (no belly fat) and you can clearly see the port and tubing....and the kink was apparent as he pulled back on the syringe...so it was easy to massage the tubing with my finger while he worked the syringe.

So yes, it can and does happen....

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
