I'm 4 days out of surgery. I'm already thinking about extra skin. The doctor told me I won't have it too bad because I'm young. Anyone get lucky with their skin. I'm 28.

You either will or will not have sagging skin. Being young definitly is in your favor!! My adviceis dont worry about it just focus on your journey with the band.

Age can help, but the amount of weight you have to lose plays a big part of it as well. So does genetics and skin elasticity. Unfortunately there's no way to know if you'll have excess skin or not until you lose the weight.

I have lost over 200 pounds and have a lot of excess skin- but I can hide it easily under my clothes. I couldn't hide 200 pounds of fat. I'll take the extra skin over the extra fat any day.

a lot is based on age, the skin itself, the amount of weight etc..I have some sag, on my upper arms (I could take flight I swear) my thighs and my stomach but you know what.....I asked my ole man did he mind.....he said he'd rather have me sag then be what I use to be (weight wise) and he is right.....you can always have surgery to remove or tone as best you can.....but if there is some sag, there is just some sag......try not to worry too much about it as not a lot one can do..

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
