Whether or not you can ever take it again is up to your doctor.

They say not to take NSAIDS with the band because it can cause ulcers which then lead to band erosion.

However, I take NSAIDS almost daily with my surgeon's blessing to do so. He said since I've never had ulcer problems or reflux in before the band there's no reason to think I would after the band.

Talk to your surgeon. He can make that decision for you based on your own personal health history.

Nsaids will thin your blood and could make the lining in your stomach bleed, causing an ulcer. Especially right where the band is pressing on the stomach.

My doctor says never again, but I still cheat if I go on a long bike ride and need help for aching muscles. I just don't do it very often. Maybe twice a month?

NSAID drugs like ibuprophen, naproxen sodium, work in a couple of ways that could cause stomach irritation, inflammation and ulceration. Direct contact of the gastric mucosa and NSAIDs can cause injury. NSAIDs in the blood inhibit production of protective enzymes leaving the lining more vulnerable to injury. The band puts a significant amount of pressure on the stomach wall an taking NSAIDs exaggerates the effect this has and can lead to band migration (erosion).

I was wondering the exact same thing... tylenol and other pain relievers do not work for me... I definitely do not want band erosion, however, once a month ( ) I get terrible headaches for a day that are not relieved in any other way.

My surgeon did give me permission to take a few Advil Liquigels post op from orthopedic surgery.

Though I did take the Liquigels with a stomach protector medication I still ended up having to be treated for 2 months for gastritis. Not my idea of a good time...

I've learned to muscle through the pain...and will not take NASIDS again.

My surgeon said never again......for the reasons already stated above. Advil has always been my drug of choice for pain, but I haven't had any since two weeks before the surgery. And I won't take it anymore. Not worth the risk, and though extra strength Tylenol doesn't work to the degree that Advil does, it's what I now take for a headache, etc. Not the greatest, but better than nothing.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
