I'm a little upset and not sure what to do about it! I'm 4 days post op and when I left the hospital (same day) I had 100.3 fever. I haven't had a fever since but I have not had a single call from the drs office checking on my fever or anything else. Should I be upset and should I say something? I just don't think that's the best aftercare treatment...

Take responsibility for your own health. If you have a fever call your doc :). They see a lot of patients and cant check up every single time. Mine did check up and I missed the call. I have been nauseated in the morning pretty bad. Nothing seems to help. Other than that I guess its been alright.

If you are that upset about it you could call the office manager and explain your concerns and suggest that you would have appreciated a follow up call.

Lots of variables to this thought though... Do u want the hospital to call or the physicians office? Did they give you instructions on when to call for complications? There are lots of ways healthcare delivery can be improved sometimes it just takes someone pointing out where and what those improvements could be.

I never heard a thing from the office or doc at all after surgery. It was kind of disappointing that no one checked on me!

It wouldnt have mattered who called me- but the personal touch wouldve been nice. He made a pretty penny..5 mins for him or his staff wouldnt have been too much. I understand your frustration.

Well I am taking responsibility for my own health and best believe that if I have a question or concern it will be heard by someone lol! However, I was specifically told to expect a phone call and never got it and there are other variables that have happened to make me disappointed in my aftercare. I'm just a stickler for good customer service/ patient care considering i work in health care. However, I'll just chalk it up to miscommunication, and let it go and continue to be excited about my future :)

I would deff call and ask them about the fever and tell them you would have liked a follow up call or something, My hospital recovery called a couple times the next day to make sure I was okay.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
