I'm not sure why you're down or feeling bad. 20 pounds is a lot of weight. The average weight loss rate is 1-2 pounds a week. You're above that considerably.

I think maybe you need more realistic expectations of yourself and the band. The weight didn't come on overnight and it's going to take time to lose, too. Be patient, stick to your doctor's rules, and the weight will come off.

You are doing amazing. Seriously!!!! Took me like 2 years to lose 71 lbs..

Some lose slower than others..and you actually sound like one of the fast ones!!!

Wilona, never compare your weight lose to others. Everyone loses at different rates and nothing can be more discouraging than trying to compete with others. It took me 2 years to reach my goal and there were many months I sat at the same weight and I was doing everything right. Our bodies have to adjust to us not feeding them what we used to and we have to give ourselves time to adjust to life with the band. Remember this is not a diet but a life style, yes we watch what we eat, we measure and weigh our food but it is not a diet in the true concept of the word diet. It is a life style change learning to eat a healthy diet. You are on track and what you are doing is working.

why feeling bad? are you upset because you are not losing 20 pounds a day?

lap band doesnt work that way

20 pounds lost is amazing but you already know that dont you?

who cares what me or anyone else lost compared to you--you lose weight at your bodys pace and keep doing what you are doing as it is obviously working..

20 pounds.....thats a bag of dog food for a week for one of my dobermans or 4 five pound bags of sugar or 4 five pound bags of potatoes........i see your loss as fantastic

i sure wish you could also

You and I had our banding done on the same day!! I have also lost 20 pounds. Please don't feel down. Everybody is different and will lose at different rates. If you are doing everything right, please don't worry. The weight will come off!!!

Well - after 5 years with the band. It has to come out. Everything was great for first 2 1/2 yrs. then a horrible stomach flu (we think) caused a prolapse above my band. January 2012 was rebanded with a more flexible band, hoping the prolapse would recede. Here I am over a year later and it's worse, and even though I'm Unfilled. I never know what will get stuck in the prolapse and make me sick.

I'm so sad/mad!! I don't blame the band. I believe that it was a combination of things tat caused my issues. The problem is that banding, like dieting, takes self discipline. Something I'm really not very good at.

I'm hoping that I will be able to maintain my weight and possibly even add to it after the band is gone. I have learned a lot about how to live on smaller portions I just need to keep it up.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
