adi2uds 1 Posted April 27, 2013 This is my second day after having surgery definitely more painful my stomach today then it was yesterday. I think the pain is mostly around where the port is, but I'm not quite sure. I've been taking the liquid vicodin but it doesn't seem to be helping too much. Can I put ice packs on my stomach where the pain is? I know they told me not to drink cold liquids so I didn't know if I could use ice on my stomach. I'm hoping the pain goes away by Monday cause thats when I go back to work. At least I work from home and I'm only on the phone with doctors all day so I'm not expecting it to be too bad. Figuring if anything I'll just be tired. I do feel a bit hungry, but the Soup broth seems to help. I am looking forward to losing weight getting back to my wedding size. I know I can do it I lost 15 pounds in the week and a half of preop.
CanCan1791 57 Posted April 27, 2013 I used a heating pad on my back and it really helped. I know thats weird because the pain is in the front but I was afraid to put anything on the front. It's most likely your port that hurts. Mine still hurts and I'm 16 days post op.

*~NewBeginnings2013~* 21 Posted April 27, 2013 Absolutely you can apply ice to your belly (good barrier between skin). Ice helps with the swelling. There's a lot of trauma getting to where the band needs to be and actually putting it in. I woke up with an ice pack on my stomach from surgery. The pain your feeling from my nursing experience as well as my own recent banding is the swelling and not the band itself. Thats just my opinion. Your doctor probably told you where your port was located and that probably is tender too. Best of luck.....and ice away!!!
