PB from hell question

Recommended Posts

Last night I felt like a piece of my dinner got stuck. I pb'd within 30 minutes, but still felt uncomfortable. Went to sleep, and 4 hours later, pb'd the same food (disgusting!). Since then, I am having pain with mushies (went on mushies today thinking my pb from hell would have made me a little swollen).

My question......is it normal to have pain for a day or two after a pb from hell? OR, do I have to worry about something else?

TIA

Pam

Pam, I wouldn't say it's "normal" but it is indeed possible. BABY YOURSELF before it gets worse. Irritation begets irritation, and many people have discovered that eating solids too soon after a bad episode just starts the cycle anew.

If this were to happen to me I'd stick strictly to liquids for a week. You may think that's a bit much, but I really think that's what I'd do. I've had two bouts of terrible reflux over the last two years that could only be alleviated by an unfill, and I think at least one of them was brought on by my not letting my system heal from just what you're describing.

Be careful, and let yourself get better before trying solid food again. We're delicate organisms and have to remember that sometimes!

Thank you! I'm going for a first fill on Monday and really want to feel like I need it (like I did before the pb from hell).

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
