I went in for my kink repair yesterday. It turned into a full port and tubing replacement. Once in the site, the doc noticed that the "kink" wasn't bad enough to cause the Fluid to not be taken out as easily as he would like. He blamed the port and replaced both.

This surgery wasn't as "big" as the installation of the band iteself. I am feeling ok today other than port site discomfort.

As discouraged as I was about having to "repair" something, I am so glad the issue was caught early and repaired quickly so that I can continue my weight loss journey.

I could have gotten really upset and discouraged about this but I didn't. I had a very positive attitude and fully understood that sometimes these things happen. I hoped it wouldn't happen to me...but honestly....it is fine. Why not me?

I still have some fill in (doc said just as much as I did before port replacement) but I feel a little less tight. No worries there either, I go in for a follow up in a week and if I need a fill I am sure I will get one.

Thank you all for all the well wishes. I am sharing this info just to be informative....not to be negative. I am one that like's having ALL the info and potential problems laid out for me. Perhaps if someone else has to go through this....please know that it really is no big deal.

Of all the potential problems.....this is a blessing.

Happy Friday!

Hi ,

I 'm scheduled for a port revision on May 10th as I have a kink in mine as well. My doctor says he will fill me then as I still feel no restriction. This time it will be day surgery I'm looking forward to it.

Glad to hear things went well. Your doc listened to you. It took me 7 months to convince my doc something was wrong. I wasn't staying restricted. I knew I had a leak but he wouldn't listen. Finally after getting very assertive he did the test, and sure enough, right in his face!! So the band is leaking and my port was fixed last June and it never healed right. So i still continue to have port site pain. I can't lift like a heavy load of laundry..so in 4 days i am having it removed and getting the sleeve. Would I do it again, YES! I understand complications are part of surgery but when you doc fails to listen to you that's not your fault. I gained all my weight back plus 10 pounds. Talk about sad...but like you said, you have to stay strong and pull yourself up and start again...found myself a new surgeon who i absolutely love and talked to patients who had him for a surgeon. Not one bad word..same hospital, different surgeon. how awkward was that. My body and I will decide who does that cutting!!! One time my surgeon didn't know how many CC's i had when I asked him. I walked out of there and slammed the door. This is not over with. When i am done with my surgery i am going to the hospital and having a chat with a rep. Patients have rights too and they need to know they have Chief of Surgery that is very difficult and is not doing his job. One time I told him I had yogurt for Breakfast and his next question was, what did you have for Breakfast. OH MY GOSH!! HELLO!!! So thank god I can move on and have someone who will listen to me. So that's my story. Again, not bashing the band, just the doc!!! have a good day and keep up the good work. Renee

Yes my doc is very thorough and observant. He does listen. He was actually the one who caught the problem, ran the tests, and err'd on the side of caution and replaced the port and tubing. Having a doc one can trust is a big deal with this surgery!

Good luck in your future weight loss endeavors. I will be sending positive thoughts your way!

I'm really glad I found this post. I went in today for my second fill and discovered that I also have a kink in my tubing. I am terrified and heart broken and completely broke down in the doctor's office. They are going in to repair my kink tomorrow. I'm nervous and scared that I will keep having complications.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
