aleecia2331 0 Posted April 27, 2006 I had my second fill recently. I have lost 4 lbs in that last 4 weeks since. My question is: Is it possible to not be able to loose weight if you're not getting enough calories? Lately, I'm only managing 600-700 calories daily. Subtract an additional 150 for my excercise and its even less. I'm concerned I'm not getting enough. Does anyone know any web sites that explaines what is safe? :help:
Kathy473 1 Posted April 27, 2006 It's possible that you can stop losing weight if you do not get enough calories. When I went to Jenny Craig awhile back they told me that if you don't have enough calories to burn then your body tends to hold on to them, resulting in no weightloss. Not sure of a web site that can tell you about it but your surgeon might have a dietitian that you can also ask. Hope this helps.
Dianechef 3 Posted April 27, 2006 Kathy is correct!! When you don't get enough calories your body goes into starvation mode. Even the smallest amount of food you eat will be stored waiting for you to eat more!! You need at least 1,000 calories a day.
PhotoNut 7 Posted April 27, 2006 Tis true indeed. My doc has me on 800 - 1,000 calories per day, but I eat 75 grams of Protein in there so I'm doing great even though I typically average about 900 calories a day. I think I'm losing an average of about 3 pounds per week. I eat three small meals and sometimes have a 100 calorie bag of pop secret kettle corn in the evenings. Fish and chicken are the keys to good Protein intake!
aleecia2331 0 Posted April 28, 2006 Thanks, I'm going to try harder to get closer to 1000 calories. I'll try the popcorn also.
Marimaru 7 Posted April 28, 2006 Yeah, you definately need more. Generally they say you should not have less than 1000 to be healthy, and I think it's best for women to have 1200 to 1500, or something like that.
aleecia2331 0 Posted April 29, 2006 Its really worked. This floored me. I lost 2 more lbs in just a few days by increasing my calories to 900 and Protein to 70g. Thanks so much!
