Intimacy & Port Pain

Recommended Posts

I have kind of a very personal question. Have any other bandsters found that after sex, with all of the cruched up contorted positions, that you have pain around your port the next day? The rest of my abdomen feels fine, but it really hurts right around my port. It makes me wince anytime I have to twist, bend over, get up, or walk around. Should I be worried or is the abdominal muscle just irritated? Has anyone ever experienced this after an intense ab workout or any other activity?

You go girl! I'm pretty sure it's just some muscle irritation around the port site...after all, it's stitched to muscle (not speaking for everyone, but mine is). So if you've had an, um, shall we say 'active' night then you're going to have a reminder of it for a couple of days after. I wouldn't worry. If you do, just give your drs office a quick call to reassure yourself.

I have had my band for 4 years and still have this happen ever so often so I assume it is normal. Mine goes away within 24 hours. I do know my port is stitched to a muscle.

Normal... but if it lasts for more than a couple of days, call the surgeon.

Thanks! I feel so relieved. :-) I've been putting an ice pack on it every so often. I'll call the doc on Monday if it hasn't significantly improved.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
