That's great! I had my surgery on Monday and was on Clear Liquids for 24-48 hours then go to full liquids as tolerated, my surgeon wants me on solids by my 2 week post op visit. I've had a lot of incision pain but I am eating egg salad in vet y tiny bites and so far so good, now I just used egg and mayo but still going well.

I'm so hungry! I've mixed some chicken gravy jnto my broth to get me some calories, but I wonder why all our diets are so different. I can't function off 200 calories a day because I am just exhausted! I am scared to go against what the dr says, and I won't, but I feel like should have been able to completely tolerate shakes today

Part of the reason that you're so exhausted, is from the surgery; anesthesia, etc. It's an assault to your body, and it takes time to get your energy back.

It's true that all the doctors differ a bit in their protocol. On mine, full liquids was the Protein shakes, and any liquid that goes "naturally" through a straw. Creamed Soups were fine, as long as any solids were strained out. pudding wasn't acceptable until I advanced to soft/mushy foods. On full liquids I could have frozen yogurt, but not regular/greek yogurt. It's probably best to clarify what's acceptable with your doctor's office. There are so many variations, and it's most important that you stick to your doctor's progression.

Good luck!

Full liquids in my dr diet includes pudding and creamed Soup sent through the blender. Soups should be low cal and ff, pudding 60 cal and sugar free... Enjoy!

It is very odd how different each dr practices for the same procedure but it does work out in the end. Also to add the egg salad is not sitting well so it was probably not the best idea but hard boiled egg is on my list of can eat food.< /p>

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
