I cant stop eating bad

Recommended Posts

I have been banded since 2010 and despite my hurdles and complications I've lost 70 pounds. However, I'm stuck at my current weight and eat about 1200 calories per day. I don't pay too much attention to carbs and Protein as long as I stay within my calories but the last few months I can't stop eating the sweets and junk and need some motivation to get me back on track. My problem is I just love to eat! In reading people's posts on here that are doing so well, how do I focus and get back on track??? HELP!'n

I know I want thinness and healthiness more than bad foods. When I got banded, the junk food left the building with Elvis. Also being that I am a very fussy eater I buy my husband foods that I would never eat. I got fat eating lots of breads. I only eat bread in restaurants if it's really good. I also love buying and wearing smaller size clothes. Nothing looks and feels better than feeling great about yourself. So as CG would say, suck it up and get over it. You had how many years of fun eating-I had 61 1/2 years, I am done.

I would suggest to keep track of what you are eating. Hold yourself accountable. When you eat better things you will not crave the bad stuff. When you eat the bad carbs, they just make you want more. Find good things that you like. I have become a Peanut Butter freak and am thinking of changing over to almond butter. Would love some today, but I am on a clear liquid diet for a procedure tomorrow. Can't wait to eat again! But, I will get through this as you will too.

Oh Lordy Barb...we all love to eat..LOL! It's why we're all here and on this site. I think that you have done great so far losing all that weight. It sounds to me like you just need to make a few changes by tracking your intake so you know what's going in, and also to get the bad stuff out of the house. If it's not readily available, you can work on pushing the craving away. You can do it...you're not new to this banded way of life so just take yourself in hand and find the success you've already experienced.

measure and track everything. i find that since i started cooking my own meals and not eating a lot of processed foods that the healthier i eat the easier it is to stay on track. you have to get all the sugar and crap out of your system so you will stop craving. it all boils down to "want power" and hard work. hope you get back on track soon. best of luck.

Start with talking to your doctor make sure all is good and ask his help to get on track again maybe a fill is needed or just a new plan. Clean out the house of the food that calls you and track every bite. Find something that excites you to get moving again maybe join a guym or get a friend to do walking daily or something new a difference. Check you senior center for the classes they offer its cheap and fun. Good luck

Have you asked why you like to eat. A lot of us have food issues and need to deal with them, like the clean your plate club and if you're good you get a treat or dessert or bad if you eat something bad and then can't stop. I am trying to deal with all those issues while on this journey. It's never too late to start over just have your next meal be the healthy one. I agree with those who said to get all the tempting food out of your house and remember how you ate when you first got the band.

Yes I am very much a part of the clean your plate food club! Working on smaller portions and went out last night and stocked the house with proper foods. No junk!!! I do use my fitness pal religiously. Thanks to all of you for the motivation, it's very much appreciated. I've been in this forum for two years and never posted until now. I love the support and it is so badly needed.

OMG!!!This is me also. I have had surgery in 2009 I had gotten my weight down to 165 . After 2 years I lost jobs and insurance and without having fills I paid more attention to the hunger again and not what I was eating needless to say I gained almost all my weight back. I have now started getting insurance again and now gonna start to get back on track. It easy to say get rid of the junk food in the house but hard to do when you have people in the house who do snack on junk foods but they don't over do it with the stuff. I can't tell them don't bring it home. Somehow I just have to tell myself do not touch it....lol.

One thing I do is try to stay away from anything in a box or bag. This is a slow process but it works.

I was banded in 2010 also! I still haven't hit my goal, but I'm closer than I've ever been. I got back on track last August when I started journaling EVERYTHING that I eat. I use My Fitness Pal to journal.

Also, I use a FitBit. It's a small pedometer type thing that tracks my daily steps and links in with My FitnessPal. Once I started being honest about what I was eating and moving more, I started losing again.

I'm not perfect...I just try each day to move more and eat less. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't, but I am still trying.

Good luck! It isn't easy, but it's sure been worth it. I have to buy an entire new wardrobe this spring since nothing from last summer fits anymore!

Maybe it's just a matter of tweaking things a little. Maybe eat more Protein and drink lots of Water. After a few weeks of this...the scale should move in the right direction.

Congrats on your amazing weight loss already!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
