Hi Guys very happy to have joined you!, I was banded in Tijuana,Mexico by dr. verboonen, on September 23,2003 and have sice then lost 170 lbs! I am so excited! and so proud of myself for takig this step! I had no complications and no trouble with th food part and I am happy to report I can shop at the skinny people stores now hehe:D I went from a six "X" in shirts to a two "X" and from 62 waist size to size 50 Waist size I mean I have alot more to go but let me tell you Iam almost there! I hope I don't sound like I am bragging or something but god it really feels good to have a total other person lifted off you you know what I mean, I had alot of problems when I was bigger and it was not cute beside the fact I was very self conscious about it but now I am out there and clubbing and god it feels great!

I hope to hear from other people whom have had the same luck like me and from others whom have questions about it man I woul;d do this again in a heart beat! till then Good luck to all of you and Hope to hear from you guys Robert

HI Robert,

Wow, I hope that's a typo in your subject header and it should read 2002! Because if you've lost 170 lbs in 6+ months you certainly didn't do it with a band alone. What's your secret? ;)

Hmm, but then you typed it twice... is it possible? Please clarify. Inquiring minds and all that...

Whatever the case, welcome!

hello Jujubee76

I was wondering about the surgery. I am approve for the lap band and waiting on a surgery date. I am excited but nerious. I guess the unknown. If you can help me about the pre surgery and after. It will help me so much. Even if you can tell me the do and don't also.

Thank you so

Robert -

Congratulations, and welcome!! What a marvelous accomplishment. I am guessing from the sizes you posted and your current stats (and the fact that you're male) that you did not make a mistake in typing your banding date as Alexandra inquires.

Your results are pretty extraordinary, but people who have further to go lose faster in the beginning than people who start closer to goal. Plus, men almost always lose at a more accelerated rate than women because they generally have more muscle mass.

I don't think there is anyone else on this board that can even come close to your personal results. You may find more people who've had a similar experience to yours on the Yahoo group "ExtraordinaryBandsters" - but we're happy that you're here!!

Congrats, and best wishes for continuing success.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
