Okay, probably a good question for dr but thought I would run it by you guys. Since surgery I am NEVER thirsty anymore. EVER!! Not after an hour after eating, not after working out. NEVER. Gotta force myself to drink. Anyone else have this issue????

Odd, isn't it? I would easily drink 16 cups of Water a day without thinking about it before the surgery, now I have to force myself. Maybe when it gets hotter outside... Let me know what you find out.

I am the same way prior to surgery I was drinking 120-150 oz Water a day. Now 70- 90 and I have to think and force myself to do it... I will break 100 again it will just take some time I guess

I am the opposite, I fine I am dying of thirst all the time now. I can't get enough Water, which means I spent A LOT of time going potty!

I find that I'm not thirsty, either. And I know I'm not getting the 64oz/day of Water that the doctor wants us to have.

I think that the reason we drank so much prior to surgery, is because we were eating anything and everything we wanted; much of which causes thirst. Our bodies also craved the fluids to push through all that food! Now, with the very scant portions, drinking doesn't interest me. I do it because I have to, but getting as much as they prescribe, is a stretch.

Great post because I thought it was just me not drinking enough. I find the timing of drinking difficult: 30 minutes before or after a meal. It's just hard to get Water in especially if you are in the education field as using the bathroom is very limited!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
