Struggling More Than Ever...

Recommended Posts

I was going to post tonight about head hunger. I am having issues with it and even if I drink Water I still feel like I should be eating. I am trying hard not to let the head hunger win or have fruit to help out. Any other tips will be great as well. I have to log my food more' date=' but sometimes feel that when I do that I want to eat more. Hopefully it will get better.

Logging your food helps so you can see what you are eating and how many calories are in each. I also like it because if you stick with it and be honest it tells you what you should weigh in a couple weeks. It was very motivating for me.

For me, I like the crunch of snacking. I eat Quaker Oat Squares, mixed with a couple almonds almond and banana chips. That is my go to crunch if I need Protein, I eat celery with Peanut Butter and raisins. I try not to eat sliders like yogurt. It never seems to satisfy me or stick with me. If I do eat yogurt, I add a little grapes nuts to it.

Find things to eat that you really enjoy. If you can find that satisfied feeling, the hunger will go away easier. It took me quite a while. Habits and head hunger are hard to break. Hang in there!

First of all, (((HUGS))). How about a local Over Eaters Anonymous group or a band buddy? Do you log your food? I found that to be very helpful in holding myself accountable for everything I put in my mouth. I also take my logs to my appointments for their input/suggestions. I think you've taken the first and probably most important step by going to counseling. Best wishes to you. :)

Totally agree. OA is great support as well as support groups from my surgery group. Support is very important from the outside and from family and friends.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
