Well that's kinda scary. I don't want my appetite to come back with a vengeance. Isn't that supposed to be one of the advantages? Having my surgery on the 24th.

Sorry! I don't mean to scare you. :) I'm on mushy food and I don't think I eat nearly enough so I get really hungry 2 hours later. I'm also not eating enough Protein. Mushy protein is hard to find and I hate Protein Shakes. I am certain when I can eat real food (mostly protein) I will not be hungry like that anymore. Probably those who like protein shakes and pureed protein are not having the same experience as me. It's not fun to be a picky eater and newly banded. :)

I am about 10 days post-op and after the first 3 days of clear liquid I had to break up and space out the Protein Shakes. After another day I was able to get 3 in.

Then added some sugar free instant pudding made at home with fat free milk. Ice pops were my saving grace to get the extra fluids in and a nice cup of Decaf tea with artificial sweetener.

Today I am still on liquids and purée Soup. I have found another on here that offered up a Wendy's chilli with low fat sour cream whipped in blender and that took away some of the blandness to the liquid diet.

I don't think about getting stuck or having an episode I am just going along taking care of myself and adjusting as needed and I am so very happy!

Half a bowl of mushed up chilli and I am full! I love that. Before that would not have been the case.

I purchased some bowls and plates from precise portions.com they are attractive no one has to know they measure your food in secret and I can see what it takes to satisfy my hunger for an hour or more.

I have been eating at intervals to get it all down. 9-11-1-3-5-7 gets all the Protein in I need and both hubby and I are doing great.

Also read about a butter finger shake on here somewhere here is their recipe. I would think any fat free milk will do and it's a break from the standard vanilla or chocolate shakes.

mix Protein Powder with FF butterscotch pudding mix, almond milk, and a teaspoon of Peanut Butter, blended in my magic bullet. Tastes just like a butterfinger!

Good luck everyone and keep up the amazing work!!

So it's been a week, pain is so much better. I'm back at work and adjusting. I do have a question. When I bend over I can feel tightness, like my stomach is hard and feels like it's in my chest. Anyone else feel this?

I also made the mistake of eating a little bit of chicken breast yesterday at lunch and even though I chewed it well and ate slow I felt horrible for 5 hours. I hope I didn't screw anything up. As of this morning I'm down 12lbs!!

Hi chastity, congrats on 12 pounds already! I am very surprised you are eatting solids only one week post-op. In the book provided by True Results it is three or four weeks before solid food is introduced. This gives the stomach time to heal. I understand the band is stitched into place? If that is correct then it makes sense that bending over for first two weeks may not be so pleasant. Please keep me updated. I hope you are feeling better and better ever day. How much weight do you hope to lose?

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
