Do you really need Percocet day 3? I had liquid Vicodin and took one dose. I cannot believe they ordered you pills! Maybe call and ask for liquid meds.

Ask your doctor to call in a prescription for Lortab. It's liquid Vicodin with acetaminophen. That's what I took after surgery; so did many others. It goes down easily, and was a gift from the Gods for pain :-)

Good luck.....

My Doctor gave me liquid pain meds but I also had pain meds going directly to my incision site with a ball of medicine attached. It was wonderful. Hardly no pain at all and when the ball was empty I just pulled the cath out. It was the best thing.

I also had liquid Vicodin. I even ordered 1 refill on that bad boy! But, I also take many other meds, so swallowing pills wasn't really a problem with me...

3 days out, you're still very swollen. I wonder too why they did not order liquid? I like the others, had liquid Vicodin.

Call your Dr and ask for something else.

Most pain medication I cannot take so my doctor gave me Dilaudid in pill form and Phenergan pill with no problems. I was told by my doctor's PA that I could take capsules, caplets and pills that were no bigger then the tip of my pinky.

I had small pills and no problem even with 2cc of saline in my band at surgery. Today after 4cc I still swallow pills. Most of my post op Vitamins are pill form. I can't stand the taste of the liquid vitamins.

My surgeon gave me a prescription for liquid Percocet . However, since I have fibromyalgia, high blood pressure & cholesterol, and am hypothyroid I have other meds to take several times a day. I place them into a folded sheet of waxed paper and totally crush them with the flat side of my meat mallet pour the crushed meds into a little med cup, add a little bit of juice to dissolve the powder , stirring as much as necessary, drink it, and follow it up with another sip of juice to get the nasty taste out of my mouth. If you're not use to having to take pain meds it could be that the med is making you feel sick. Maybe your doc can prescribe some anti nausea med for you or you can purchase it over the counter at Walmart or just about any similar store or pharmacy.

Hey bigcheese. I too am three days post op. I had my surgery on Monday and actually band over bypass. I was given liquid Vicodin but luckily don't need it anymore. My doctor said I could take anything up to the size of a Tylenol.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
